Agency, curiosity-   Early childhood education is fostered through children's literature because it challenges children to think, create, be curious and be in control. Children can actively develop their knowledge by asking questions, making predictions and solving problems through stories. These stories can be followed up in the real-world using play-based and inquiry-based learning, such as dramatic play or outside investigations. This enables children to be independent thinkers, creative problem solvers and effective actors of change who make a difference in their communities, and to a sustainable future (Pulimeno et al., 2020).
